Search Engines consider incoming links to a site/blog as a significant factor to analyze page rank. They also take into account where do these links come from: If you have a hyperlink from nytimes.com than a personal blog, it does a significant boost to your page rank.
The more incoming links to your site/blog the better its ranked in search engines results. Now here are a few HotWays to increase link popularity.
Dont Loose Precious but Free fodder:
If you have a habit of reading Official Google blogs or if you have noticed : at the end of the blog posts you see all the sites / blogs linking to that post. So when you write content related to those blog posts as on official google blogs don’t forget to point a hyperlink to that related blog post. This gets your blog / site listed on Google blog which is the precious but free fodder to your site.
Q & A
If you are blogging about a software or a virus removal tool there might be people on forums or social networking sites discussing just that topic what you have published on your blog.
You can search for related queries or questions asked by people on forums and in services like Yahoo Answers to suggest users that you have the related content on your blog by using a hyperlink.
You can explain in detail about the topic and provide the link to your blog post if the users want to probe further on it.
Over doing the above tip will do more bad than good for your blog as web services will suspend your accounts if you over do link popularity. They strictly consider it as Spamming. So, don’t exceed 1 or 2 links per day if you are looking for some serious link popularity overnight.
Comment in Relevant blogs:
Commenting on other relevant blogs is one of the good ways to enhance both hits and link popularity for your website. Appreciating and complementing other bloggers is always a part of healthy blogging.

Nice I’m already doing that
Hi Srikanth,
Great post from you!!
But I do not understand why all of us run for PR??
Which is of no use till date.
Hi,
page rank gives better ranking for a site in search engine results. The higher your page rank the better your site is listed. After all sites are built to serve target users , search engine queries bring more traffic to the site for which Page rank plays a significant role. The information provided on a high page rank site is respected and trusted more than a low page rank site.
Excellent tips. A lot of people (including myself ’till recently) don’t realize the power of trackbacks and linkbacks to blogs of power, like Google’s.
It’ kind confusing what’s the point of linking with something completely different from your blog topic. That article in G blog is about politics. Or link from powerful blog is link no matter the topic? Please drop a word or two about this.
Hi Aleks
I just mentioned that link in the blogpost as an example to illustrate that official Google blog posts show all the blogs or websites which link to that post.
I mean when you write content relevant to the posts on Google blogs on your own blog its good to point a hyperlink to the source.
I hope its clear now
One of the other ways is to write such a post like srikanth.
Nice article. I like these tips. Here are a couple others:
1. Reference other blogs in your posts and link to them with good anchor text. By sharing your site’s internal link juice with other bloggers, they will often reciprocate - especially if you are publishing good content.
2. Network with other bloggers to help build friendships that can turn into inbound links. Conferences, Meetups, BarCamps, whatever. Any opportunity you have to build a relationship with a fellow blogger…do it!
Of course, the best, best, best way to improve inbound linking is to publish the best, best, best content. If you have something great to say (or something really clever), it will attract links. If your blog posts are boring, pointless, and dull, you’re in for a slow link building journey.
So far all I’m doing are blog commenting and signature posting on forums. I have yet to try answering a query on Yahoo.
Thanks for the tip!
Link popularity is very essential for the purpose of search engine optimization.
Links and creativity is all one need to make it getting through. According to me Viral is also good technique for the popularity but we have to be careful.
Your words on this…
Nice post and execellent tips. However, do you think Pagerank is important in making money online? I doubt in it since many said were important to make money online.
