Let me start of by introducing myself first, I’m eddie from singapore and I’m currently a undergrad in university of newcastle . I’m also running a company full time doing internet marketing and development jobs in my country.
If you do not have a huge capital , dont have any talents and skill sets. You can still make some money by riding the wave method. I’m sure there are alot similar post out there telling you about facebook and many more but not many people can afford paying someone to do up a widget, games thats why i wrote this article because i’m gonna blog on how to start from start to finish from choosing a project, domain, choosing a platform, modules to install, files to tweak and how to start marketing it using popular methods available.
First of all ask around your friends and observe what your friends are always visiting or playing . Survey them and ask about the problems they faced . Note of all the problems faced and try to find which site is a better project to build on based on your skill sets and budget .
Among my female friends scrapbooking seems like a popular thing among them. To be honest i do not have any ideas what it is until i googled it and find more information about it . I have also surf around and found out popular cool stuffs such as world of warcraft, online streaming dramas, anime sites , youtube, facebook and drama series like The unit, desperate housewives .
You need to be updated whats the latest hot thing to be successful . Most popular sites are based on usa server. You can easily purchase a domain and host it in your country and target your country’s users . Without much marketing your site also will be appeared on first page with the right hosting company, domain name, title and content.
Why ride the wave ?
1. They already have an established users. For example world of warcraft has 8 million players
2. Its easy to build small mini applications example facebook applications.
3. These topics are very popular among popular search engines.
4. They handle all the legal problems if any arises for video reposting.
5. and many more
Some examples you can do . Please note these are just examples and i am no related to any of them.
1. Setting up a world of warcraft site to teach how to level up faster ( an example : merc made a bot for wow. He sold 25k copies at least and made over a million already. )
2. Setting up a blog and repost videos on drama series that are popular such as desperate housewives because big video sites are difficult to search what they really want as many users use popular keywords for marketing purposes. Drama fans will revisit your site because your site will be updated with latest episodes.
An example is crunchyroll ( a drama video streaming site ) that is ranked 665 in Aexa.
3. If someone you know have knowledge in a particular niche, you can build a website for him/her.
4. For programmers or designers, you can create sites that enhance users experience on large social networking sites like facebook and friendster . Alternatively you can build on problems people faced online.
5. You can even collect a particular adult fetish collection and create a video site.
Hope these ideas can get you started, if you have not started any sites .
I recently bought a domain scrapbookinglovers.com and i get 850 vistors a month with no content in it . The results are all from search engines .
In my next post i will share on how to choose a right domain and choose a right platform to start your sites. Give me some comments if you like this post or anything you would like to add to my post.
