UpdateWordpress 2.4

Well, i thought to give you all an update regarding Wordpress 2.5 . I installed Wordpress 2.5 locally on my computer, since it’s easy to install and update it locally. Wordpress 2.5 is set to release today(yay!) and I’ll update ASAP(I’ll be sleeping at that time).

I’ll describe what all has already been implemented in Wordpress 2.5 and how the Wordpress 2.5 administration panel looks like.

Dashboard

The dashboard shows a “Right Now” box which displays what’s currently going on, like, current theme, active widgets, total number of posts, total number of pages, total categories & tags. Also includes links to write new post and page.

Recent Comments
Also shows a box for recent comments, it looks a lot better now because it displays excerpt from the comment.

Incoming Links
The Dashboard also has a box for Incoming(inbound) links to your blog. You can also edit it to display incoming links for any other blog. ;)

Wordpress Development Blog
A box for wordpress development blog is also available. It displays all recent developments regarding Wordpress.

Plugins
Displays a list of popular plugins, newest plugins and recently update plugins and also shows a download link to download them directly from your Wordpress dashboard.

Other Wordpress News
The last box the Dashboard displays is the recent Wordpress news.

There’s more like new style of managing widgets, etc.! :D

If you want to prepare for Wordpress 2.5 you might want to read this article on BlogHerald which includes disabling and or removing old plugins, updating themes and plugins, validation, and checking for compatibilities, etc.

Stumble it!

And, aren’t all/most of those features already available on the current version of Wordpress, with the exception that you see all of them on the front page?
