Google AdsenseToday we are going to discuss about why Adsense might NOT the best choice for your blog or site, the bad side of the coin.

Whats my Opinion
My personal opinion is that Google Adsense can be a great program for many blogs and sites, but not on every site or blog.

Lack of control over Advertisement display
Though the ads are pretty much targeted there is still lack of control over display of advertisements. You lose the control of what ads appear on your blog. The amount of advertisers is very much. The ads displayed can be anything, like, products, services and might be totally opposite of what you recommend on your blog or site. Even though Adsense allows to filter the urls which you don’t want to be displayed, it still shows you only the ads which are targeted to the part of the world you live in. So ultimately it will still might show the totally opposite ads.

Minimum Payout is Too high - Problem for Small bloggers

The minimum payout is way too high and it’s not easy for small bloggers/site owners to reach the $100 benchmark easily(I have reached it twice in past 2 months). Many people are not even able to reach the $100 benchmark even in a year! So don’t give up, many people give up.

Revenue gets cut down

The money advertisers pay to advertise on your site is reduced and you get only a % of the money spent by advertiser. Adsense keeps a nice sum of it and gives the publishers less revenue. Almost all ad networks take a % of the money spent by advertisers, but you can sell your ads directly and get the whole money spent by advertiser.

Underselling to Advertisers
Adsense charges advertisers more for CPM or CPC basis(sometimes). If you go directly to the publisher they will probably charge you less for advertising on their site. I have a friend who had to pay Adsense more for advertising on a site, while he could get advertising on the same site for %20 less money.

No Input on Worth of the Ad
Adsense do their best to maximize your earning per click but it does not provide any information about cost-per-click - no input on what the ads might be worth.

Distraction
It distracts your readers from other objectives. Visit usually click one or two outbound links on a site and Adsense might just prevent them from visiting your affiliate links. If you have joined any affiliate programs and you have added some links to your affiliate link, due to Adsense there might be less chances of your readers visiting the affiliate link and finally converting.

These are just few points that i could mention here. I’ll try my best to think up more points. ;)

Adsense might be going away from this blog soon too.

Stumble it!

    ‘don’t give up’..:)

It is a good advice for Absense Users. The Problem is Lack of control over Advertisement display.

What I would suggest would be to use the Rubiconproject (Located at http://rubiconproject) as it gives you the option to display ads from 12 different networks and gives you a paypout via paypal every month, no matter what you have earned.

Another thing is that Adsense can sometimes not give you a high payout and when you look at it like your giving away a potiental reader/subscriber for a 20 cents, you must question your motives :)
