StumbleUpon and How to drive Traffic

What is StumbleUpon?
StumbleUpon is a web browser plugin that allows its users to discover and rate webpages, photos, videos, and news articles. These webpages are typically presented when the user — known within the community as a Stumbler — clicks the “Stumble!” button on the browser’s toolbar.
Whole definition about StumbleUpon is available in Wikipedia.
Recently i got a few mails and comments regarding how do i drive traffic 5000-10000 unique visitors to my blog Winkk from StumbleUpon.
I think the time has come to reveal how do i get such high amount of traffic from SU.
Rememberable StumbleUpon id
Do you have a rememberable StumbleUpon id? If you have a rememberable id then your fans will be able to remember you easily.
Profile Avatar
A nice profile avatar also helps your fans remember your id easily. You can also use your site’s banner for some marketing. 
StumbleUpon friends
Do you have StumbleUpon friends? If you don’t have then go forward and add some people to your list and post your StumbleUpon id in sites so that people can add you as friend.
Once you have enough friends(atleast 50-60 mutual friends) then you can think that you are pretty much ready, StumbleUpon allows up-to 200 friends(mutual and non-mutual). I also have friends in Live Messenger with StumbleUpon id and i always request them to stumble my post, they happily do so. 
Once that is done choose a nice post from your blog and stumble it. Once you have stumbled it send it to your StumbleUpon via “Send to” button.
Now when you have requested all of them to stumble your post wait for sometime to see the results. Make sure to return the favor the stumble their submissions too to keep healthy friendship with them.
Changing StumbleUpon preferences
Change your StumbleUpon preferences, add your sites’ links to your profile, some information about yourself.
Stumble a lot
You should stumble a lot and submit other sites too, just don’t keep submitting your own sites. This way you’ll get more fans and more traffic to your sites!
Add Feedburner Feedflares
Also add feedburner feedflares in your feed and in the end of your posts, do this by editing your theme. If you need help let me know. Make sure to include “Stumble It!” option in your feedflare. If you don’t use Feedburner then you can also add a plugin to add options to submit your blog post in Digg, StumbleUpon, etc.

Things to remember
- Do not submit SPAM to StumbleUpon submissions because it might end up getting thumbed down and marked as SPAM.
- Do not submit your articles from the same site and from the same id to StumbleUpon on daily basis or chances are that it might get banned.
- Add something eye catchy images or text in your posts which can draw attention of StumbleUpon users.
- If you are featured in some top tags then you’ll get even more traffic. You can expect traffic up to 20k unique visitors within 24 hours!
Following the steps above has helped me a lot to get some good amount of traffic from StumbleUpon.

Digg traffic or Digg efffect is very bad for your site/blog. Some of my sites have hit Digg frontpage quite a few times and the traffic was too much, was crap. Good thing you’ve mentioned NOT to submit posts from the same website too often! Articles from Associated Content have been banned this way.

I really don’t know what you mean. I got plenty people to point to, that submit every single blog post at daily basis and never got site banned from SU. Do you have examples of banned blogs?
Ooops…I meant that don’t submit to SU from your own id always, or it’ll get banned…lemme fix this article.

One of my Automotive site gets good traffic from SU … more then se’s too …
but less to my another automotive blog … how to get our Stumbled article in front of SU visitors widely ??? so as to navigate huge traffic.
I’ll show you that in the post i am going to publish right now.
This way everybody will know HOW to do it.

I read a lot on how SU could increase the traffic to your site but i been using it for some times following all the tips given and still the same. Thanks for the tips, i’ll try to apply it and look for the outcome.
